Cricket gets Olympic approval

Cricket has been officially recognised by International Olympic Committee (IOC) and can now bid to be include in future Games.I OC rubberstamped the sport’s recognition on Thursday.

 
 
The other two sports powerboating and sports climbing were also approved by the council and can bid for inclusion in Olympic programme.
 
 
IOC spokesman Mark Adams said,”The session gave definite recognition to the three federations.”
 
 
The three sports can hope for a participation in 2020 Olympics as the programme is decided seven years in advance. Golf and rugby were most recent inclusions for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games. The sports for 2020 Games will be decided at IOC session in Buenos Aires in 2013.
